UNIT 5: MY MAGAZINE


UNIT 5: WHO AM I? (PROJECT)

For this project i was asked to design a communication/identification system for graphic design students. My idea was very basic and simple i wanted to just use shape and colour to identify each year group and subjects within graphic design.  I have also used the strategy of icons to refine the system more better. The disadvantage of this system is i haven't defined the system yet because some of the process is missing, also it hasn't been tested yet.

I have changed the style of my system and even add more features to it. I am thinking of creating a 4 in one system which requires all the applications we used daily like facebook, blog  etc. So students and tutors can access them easliy, the system works both ways you can either get info from students or connect socially via using the map app provided by the system's software. 

However the main point of this system is to commuicate with everyone so i have decided to produce a invisable system, so you can see the person and the person cant you if both commuicates.

Final Idea/outcome: 

The system has been tested out but in a hand done way. I wont say i have finished
designing it yet, i still feel i can work on it. It will be nice to see a digital mock up. Some parts of the system i shouldnt include the internet however i feel that csm blackboard & email dosen't reach some of our abilities. Not everyone uses it!

MY ELECTIVE GROUP: THE ENTREPRENEURAL MINDSET (FIRST MEETING & PRESENTATION)

The keyword we got chosen to research and compile a essay on was entrepreneur. To begin with we decided to focus on researching 'entrepreneur' broadly, at this stage we discovered the four main theologies: 

  1. Existentialism 
  2. Axiology & Theology 
  3. Pragmatism 
  4. Ethics and sustainability

URBAN DEVELOPMENT: INDUSTRY TAKEOVER!

Urban Development is a creative music brand/company. They specialise in music journalism, live events and professional development.  I chose to work with them to gain confidence in marketing and creative design all round, even though i study graphic design at Central St Martins. I also love urban music, fashion and live events.
The UK artists such as MC Versatile, Lioness and Roxxxan, environment i work in and the people i talk to really inspire me. So far i have taken part in the Industry Takeover shows at Rich Mix. These shows have helped me gain contacts with the magazine industry, (magazine design and creative writing). Last week i just met Chantelle Fiddy who writes for The Guardian and also has friendships with upcoming musicians.

I found the event very informative and interesting. Annika Allen was one of the panellists who i wanted to see, she studied at London College of Communication. She explained the route she took to get herself into journalism, now she is a journalist for Flavour Magazine. 

URBAN DEVELOPMENT: WE ARE LONDON CAMPAIGN ARTICLE!

'WE ARE LONDON' campaign to me its a important issue for all young Londoners like myself. As you can see throughout my blog, design is my league however music comes along with it. My article celebrates London culture by revealing a competition, youngsters can get involved in.
I like how Adidas approaches their audience. Using moving image and billboards, i see this as a form of design could say advertising. Street fashion is taken into account within the advert reflecting on UK rappers such as Devlin and Bashy.
